Old Toys

Over the last few weeks Class 2 have been learning about toys from the past. We have been placing toys on a timeline and also making comparisons between toys at different times.

Have a look at the fun we have had playing with old toys from the Priesthouse Museum.

A Victorian Christmas

Last half term St. Barbes Museum came to teach Class 2 about how Victorians celebrated special occasions such as Christmas. The children enjoyed dressing up as a character from a manor house and learning about what ‘upstairs-downstairs’ life was like.

The children learnt about the differences between houses then and now. For example, did you know why there were so many chimneys on houses back in Victorian times?

The children heard what Christmas was like for a young maid and we danced to the different music they would have heard or played.

Finally the children enjoyed making mint creams. I heard they tasted very yummy indeed.

Have a look at all of the fun we had!
